Abstract
Migrating data into Cloud storage can be a cost-effective way of managing the data long term and making it available to all who need it, but it is important to deploy appropriate solutions that are capable of connecting to files and to application data on Tape, Disk, or Cloud and crucially, we need to capture extensive metadata to aid search, filtering, and analysis. Only then can data managers make informed decisions and build the appropriate policies [to delete, archive or retain as active] to effectively manage data leading to savings on disk space required and in the quality and timely access of the entire data record.
