Petrosys and geoLOGIC systems have released a direct link from Petrosys E&P software to the geoLOGIC gDC data store. After connecting from their desktop on a high speed internet connection to the Calgary hosted gDC, users can access well header, directional survey, tops, production and other data for direct display and querying on Petrosys maps and 3D visualisation, and for direct input to surface modelling operations.
The direct link provides gDC subscribers with a powerful range of desktop tools, allowing them to use the most up to date gDC data for Western Canada and the northern USA in conjunction with their own in-house projects and applications data stores.
Creation of the gDC link was undertaken in Calgary as a joint effort between geoLOGIC and Petrosys staff, and was made possible by both gDC and Petrosys being based on a PPDM well data model. “Our existing PPDM based data accessing required only minimal tailoring to work with the gDC data” Petrosys senior DBA Susan Hopkin commented, “much of the configuration time involved extending our interface into detailed production tables that we had not previously supported”. “Due to their extensive experience with PPDM standards, Petrosys required little technical support from geoLOGIC” added geoLOGIC’s gDC Manager Lori Adams. “This allowed for a smooth gDC link”.
