Petrosys, a premier provider of mapping software to the E&P community, is proud to announce today its partnership for provision of Petrosys® to the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) under the Petrosys Educational Software Grant Program.
UPNG Earth Sciences Division with the School of Natural and Physical Sciences requested licenses earlier this month as part of their commitment to provide students with the most up-to-date and high quality courses. The licenses will be accessible to students of undergraduate (final year Applied Geophysics) courses and postgraduate studies. It is anticipated that approximately 30 students will have access to the Petrosys® software each year, allowing them exposure to the industry leading software in mapping, surface modeling and data management.
“We’re very proud to be able to support continued growth of the oil and gas industry in Papua New Guinea,” Petrosys’ Global Sales Manager, Scott Tidemann, says of the partnership. “For educational programs to be successful they must expose students and staff to state-of-the-art geoscience applications, where students can develop the vital skills of geoscience mapping, a critical component for energy industry professionals. Petrosys is pleased to be able to assist in shaping these future professionals,” he said.
The Petrosys Educational Software Grant Program supports the development and education of future geoscience experts through access to the industry’s most effective tools, and provides not-for-profit researchers with effective, proven mapping and modeling software technology. The software is provided free-of-charge and is strictly for research, teaching and educational purposes.
