Petrsosy Uni Presents ‘ From Mapping to Prospect Resources’
Join the Petrosys Guru’s in the Australasian region for this free 3 part online training course where we will discuss fundamental workflows relevant to all geoscientists in the industry. From building a geologically sound map to accounting for the final volumes in your corporate database, Petrosys experts will help you develop the skills needed for advanced subsurface mapping.
The Petrosys team will take care of the logistics: we will provide you with training data, licenses, and access to the latest release of Petrosys PRO. Each session will run independently, so while the sessions work best when you attend all 3 if you can’t make one it will still be worthwhile to attend the other two.
Monday 29th November, 4 PM – 6 PM
Session 1 – Start your journey toward Mapping Guru Status
In this session we will look at the basics of mapping, including;
- Building high quality presentation maps
- How to use all company data available to create your maps and make sure they are always updated
- Mapping Standards – Why they are important and how to apply them to your map
Monday 6th December, 4 PM – 6 PM
Session 2 – Bring back legacy data
We’ll look at how to properly include raster images for use in your geological analysis;
- How to incorporate your analog maps into your analysis and make the most of it
- How to incorporate new well data into your structure
Monday 13th December, 4 PM – 6 PM
Session 3 – Generating prospects and associated resource estimate
- Well Tie – Are your structures honoring your well data? How to deal with areas with sparse info?
- Prospect generation
- Use your geological knowledge to build a volumetric distribution
- Incorporate volumes into your corporate database

What will I have gained from this?
By the end of the 3 sessions, attendees will have a good understanding of how to perform fundamental G&G workflows using Petrosys PRO. Skills learned will include the ability to use the most common 3rd party data sources in the industry to create quality presentation maps in the Mapping module of Petrosys PRO and a good understanding of how to apply and follow corporate company standards using the Map Templates functionality. Maps and geological analysis will include image data thanks to the ‘Raster to Grid’ wizard.
For those specifically interested in resource computation, we’ll dedicate a session to our Lowest Closing Contours functionality as an easy way to identify prospects, before taking a look at the Petrosys solution for volume distribution, the Probabilistic Resources Computation. The training will close with an introduction to the Petrosys prospects and leads database, PLDB, our team-based stochastic resource management system.
