Join us in welcoming Mike Zyglicki to the Petrosys | Interica leadership team as the new VP of the Americas.

Mike comes to us with a wealth of experience across the energy sector and is passionate about continuing to drive growth and success for Petrosys | Interica in the Americas region. We caught up with him to chat about his career leading up to now and what he likes to do in his spare time.

Welcome to Petrosys | Interica Mike. You’ve been with us a few weeks now how are you finding it?

I’m delighted to be part of such a great group of people at Petrosys | Interica.  Everyone has been very welcoming and offering a helping hand from day one on the job.  Thank you!  I am looking forward to meeting and working with everyone, as well as adding some of my little contributions here and there where I can.  This is going to be a great year!  I can feel it.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Earlier this month I turned 48 years old. I was born and raised in Katowice which is in the south part of Poland, and moved to Houston, TX 30 years ago. I’m married to Dagmara and we are raising our 12-year-old son Michael Jr. together.

Before joining Petrosys | Interica where had your career path taken you?

I have over 20 years experience in professional sales, mainly serving upstream oil & gas industry clients with their geological modeling, petrophysical, and general data management software needs.  I started my career with SLB and have worked for several small to large organizations – our sister company Geoactive among those, although it was Senergy then. Most recently I was working with S&P Global Commodity Insights (formerly IHS Markit before the acquisition), as Senior Executive Sales Lead for Gas, Power, Climate Solutions, Metals & Mining division.

I’m excited to be part of the Petrosys | Interica team now, we have lots of great products and I’m looking forward to showing clients how we can help them.

What are some of your interests outside of the office?

I enjoy running, quite a bit I must say, and have completed several half marathons over the last few years with the most notable being two I ran in the last year: Behobia in Spain, and San Antonio, TX where I broke my PR.

Traveling to different places around the world, meeting different cultures, and doing something exotic seems like a lot of fun too.  Completing the 4-day challenge to climb the 26-mile Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru in August of last year was very demanding, but equally rewarding, especially when I reached Dead Woman’s Pass (Warmiwanusqa) at the elevation of ~4,200 meters (13,780 ft).  That peak took my breath away, literally.

For this year, I set myself a challenge of completing my first full marathon and running a minimum of 100 km (62 miles)/month.

Wow – that is impressive! It sounds like you are planning on hitting the ground running in more ways than one. Welcome to the team Mike.
