Join us in welcoming Arild Hegerland to Petrosys | Interica. Arild is a new Business Development Manager and our first to be based in Stavanger, Norway. We caught up with him to find out more about his career path leading up to joining our team and learn about what he gets up to in his downtime.
Welcome to Petrosys | Interica Arild. You’ve been with us a couple of months now how are you finding it?
I’m really enjoying it. There has been lots to learn and the team is fantastic. Petrosys has a large suite of products so I have been familiarising myself with these as well as getting to know our customers in Norway. It has been a busy time but everyone has been very welcoming and supportive.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Sure – I am 51 years old and married to Silje. We have 2 teenagers, Mathea who is 16 and Henrik who is 14. We live in Tananger which is near Stavanger in Norway.
Before joining Petrosys | Interica where had your career path taken you?
Well, I’ve been working in sales now for over 20 years and in that time have held one or two different positions from sales representative, sales project lead, marketing manager, sales manager, business manager… the list goes on. I have spent many years in the pharmaceutical industry before moving over the oil service sector.
I have a Master of Management, cand.philol. My masters program over 3 years included comprehensive coursework in interaction and management, human resource management, and strategic management. I also pursued additional training in project management, communication, and marketing. So it has been quite varied.
What are some of your interests outside of the office?
I have a number of leisure interests. My family and I like to travel and explore the world. We have amazing hiking trails here in Norway and I enjoy mountain walks and fishing. My son and I also like to play golf although he is much better at it than me!
I’m a keen cycler too and a fun fact I have cycled from Oslo in Norway to Paris, France – it’s an achievement I’m quite proud of. It was 1400km in 7 days. I cycled as part of a big Nordic charity event with 44 teams to raise money for the national childhood cancer associations. Our Stavanger team raised alone 2.5 million NOK and donated 100% of it to the charity.
