Petrosys the Mapping Guru today announced the official release of v16.5 sp4 of our industry leading E&P mapping and surface modeling software.

Make sure you review the highlights section of our release notes to learn all about what’s new and improved! Below is a just a few of the exciting highlights.

Petrosys 16.5sp4 is the fourth service pack release for the 16.5 major release that added significant functionality for connectivity to Petrel* along with full support for Landmark R5000*.

This service pack (sp4) contains an important patch for the Display/Spatial option which will now allow selection of ArcSDE columns that are of the type NVARCHAR2.

The Petrosys Plug-in for Petrel* contains significant feature additions enabling improved work flows. These include; writing of Petrosys grids back into Petrel projects; Direct gridding of Petrel seismic data; Import of Petrel seismic to Petrosys SDF; Import of Petrel faults to Petrosys fault file.

The gridding method of kriging has been significantly upgraded to include the ability to produce variogram maps and model anisotropy. This allows directional trend analysis of the data and therefore can more accurately grid features such as river systems, dunes and mountain ranges which are directional in nature. Anisotropy can also be used with kriging with external drift, allowing the user enhanced control over the interpolation process.

There are many great enhancements to the presentation canvases in Petrosys. In the mapping canvas, just one of the highlights is a new option that allows the display of other Petrosys map (dbm) files as an independent layer on the map. This allows base layers of common mapping elements to be saved to central project directories and then easily shared on other maps.

In the Petrosys 3D Viewer, users can now save a series of camera viewing positions as a collection of ‘viewpoints’. These make it easy for the user to create a series of descriptive viewing positions and return to those display perspectives quickly – much like a bookmark. The ability to render a selection of saved viewpoints into a movie (.mpeg), which can now also include time-series data provides an effective way to present or share information with other parties.
