Change is always challenging and, with mission critical software, we often prefer to stick with the system that we know, rather than trying out new functionality at the risk of having to work with a change in user interface or a data migration.
At Petrosys we invest a lot to ensure that your installation can benefit from new functionality and work with current third-party applications and operating systems whilst migrating the user experience and underlying data in a robust and controlled manner.
A Petrosys software update is installed as an additional branch to your installation and does not over-write the existing version. You can chose what version to run and site administrators can pick which version is to become the ‘current production release’. This allows new versions to be implemented on a trial basis, with time critical projects still using existing software.
In Windows, new Petrosys versions are accessible alongside existing ones through the start menu.
Our support group will advise you if there is a backwards incompatible data change associated with a given release.
Petrosys ships new releases on a regular schedule that is determined by account and support management, but you can receive an immediate update on request via FTP download. If you are working with what seems to be an old version of Petrosys, consult the support section of the Petrosys website. There you can see detailed release notes, a summary of the latest features, and a tabulation of our current support for third-party applications and operating systems versions.
