Practical Introduction to Seismic Processing

GLOBEClaritas is holding the ‘Practical Introduction to Seismic Processing‘ training course from 7-10 March 2023 in Adelaide, Australia. Registration is now open.

Over the course of four days, this short-course introduces the fundamentals of Land or Marine seismic data processing, providing a brief theoretical background in geophysics, reinforced with practical processing experience using GLOBEClaritas™ software.

The objectives of seismic processing are explained, with a focus on the consequences and pitfalls of processing decisions on the final seismic image.

About the Course

The course is designed to give attendees practical experience in processing land or Marine seismic data from field data to final migration.

The content includes:

  • Geometry – land/marine
  • Statics – refraction, residual, SSD statics, etc.
  • Signal processing
  • Multiple attenuation – marine data particularly
  • Coherency processing
  • Velocity analysis
  • Imaging: DMO / PreSTM / PostSTM
  • Producing final SEG-Y products

The datasets are exploration seismic lines from Taranaki, New Zealand, and will be used in conjunction with supplied workflows and support data.

Recommended Background
This course requires no previous seismic processing or geophysics knowledge.
