Tired of setting permits manually across multiple dbMap/Web modules?

Good news—there’s an easy way to streamline your workflow! The ‘Working Area’ filter lets you apply the same permit selection across all relevant modules, (Wells, Seismic, Records Management, and Permits) saving time and ensuring consistency.

What is the ‘Working Area’ Filter?

The ‘Working Area’ filter is a global setting that allows you to filter data across multiple modules based on a selected group of permits (also known as ‘Land Rights’). Introduced in dbMap/Web 2023, this feature ensures that once you set your working area, all relevant modules will automatically apply the filter.

Key Features of the ‘Working Area’ Filter:

  • It allows users to filter data across multiple modules based on selected permits/land rights.
  • Users can include historical or superseded versions of permits/land rights and filter them based on a specific date.
  • The filter applies to the following modules: Wells, Seismic Surveys and Lines, Records Management, and Permits (GIS).
  • It also integrates seamlessly with the Map module for enhanced spatial visualization.

Why Use It?

  • Save time by setting filters once across all modules.
  • Reduce errors by ensuring consistent data filtering.
  • Improve efficiency with an intuitive workflow.
  • Easily visualize data in the Map module without extra steps.

How to Set Up the ‘Working Area’ Filter

Open a relevant module (Wells, Seismic, RM, or Permits) where the filter can be applied.

Click ‘Working Area’ to begin the selection workflow.

The Working Area Selection Panel will pop up—choose the permits you want to use for filtering.

  • You can select current permits, as well as superseded ones valid at a specific date.
    –               Click ‘Set Working Area’ to apply the filter.
    –               Ensure the filter is toggled on—this will apply the selection across the relevant modules.

Viewing Results & Integration with the Map Module

Once your filter is set:

  • Navigate to the relevant modules while the ‘Working Area’ filter is enabled—your data will be automatically filtered based on your permit selection.
  • If you need to remove the filter, simply toggle it off or click ‘Clear Selection’ within the filter panel.
  • The filter also integrates seamlessly with the Map module, creating a ‘Working Area Layers’ group automatically. This layer visually represents your filtered data—no extra steps needed!
