Extended connectivity to Paradigm, ESRI with 17.1

EPOS4 well, grid and culture data and GIS information from ESRI file geodatabases are amongst the additional data sources now accessible from the Petrosys map and 3D canvases, and as input to Petrosys' industry leading subsurface data modeling.

Exploiting increasingly challenging reservoirs across a wide range of geological and economic environments, the petroleum E&P industry is highly dependent on being able to access the latest seismic interpretation and reservoir modeling tools available. The 'best tools for the job' often require picking individual applications on the basis of the specific E&P environment. Petrosys allows the roll-up of specialized interpretation data from many different applications into consistent presentations that consolidate knowledge and facilitate planning and operation of further exploration and field development programs.

Built with feedback from a number of key E&P companies, the Petrosys 17.1 extensions leverage the group's ongoing investment in high quality software engineering to provide EPOS4 well, grid and culture data access with a familiar user interface that requires no additional training whilst still accessing Paradigm specific features.

Being able to take GIS data on the road is particularly important to New Ventures teams who spend much of their time working from laptops and in data rooms. With this in mind Petrosys has added support for ESRI file geodatabases to the Display/GIS functionality in 17.1. The file geodatabase offers greater capacity and better performance than the personal geodatabase that it replaces, and more flexibility than static shapefiles.

A full set of release notes for Petrosys 17.1 is available on the Petrosys website at www.petrosys.com.au/software-releases. Contact your local Petrosys office or email info@petrosys.com.au if you want to try out this great new connectivity.

University of Papua New Guinea awarded Petrosys software grant

Petrosys, a premier provider of mapping software to the E&P community, is proud to announce today its partnership for provision of Petrosys® to the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) under the Petrosys Educational Software Grant Program.

UPNG Earth Sciences Division with the School of Natural and Physical Sciences requested licenses earlier this month as part of their commitment to provide students with the most up-to-date and high quality courses. The licenses will be accessible to students of undergraduate (final year Applied Geophysics) courses and postgraduate studies. It is anticipated that approximately 30 students will have access to the Petrosys® software each year, allowing them exposure to the industry leading software in mapping, surface modeling and data management.

"We're very proud to be able to support continued growth of the oil and gas industry in Papua New Guinea," Petrosys' Global Sales Manager, Scott Tidemann, says of the partnership. "For educational programs to be successful they must expose students and staff to state-of-the-art geoscience applications, where students can develop the vital skills of geoscience mapping, a critical component for energy industry professionals. Petrosys is pleased to be able to assist in shaping these future professionals," he said.

The Petrosys Educational Software Grant Program supports the development and education of future geoscience experts through access to the industry's most effective tools, and provides not-for-profit researchers with effective, proven mapping and modeling software technology. The software is provided free-of-charge and is strictly for research, teaching and educational purposes.

If you are interested in applying for the grant program, please visit www.petrosys.com.au/education-grant to download and complete the application package or email info@petrosys.com.au with any questions.

About Petrosys
Petrosys is the industry leader in mapping, surface modeling and data management software solutions integrated with a range of exploration, production and GIS data sources. The Petrosys® product suite produces high quality maps and manages, edits, and analyses the underlying data, including the specialised seismic, well and other information used in the quest for oil and gas. Geoscience professionals, data managers and engineers at more than 250 sites worldwide use the Petrosys® suite as a natural tool for basin and field interpretation, as a central solution in enterprise data management and to help make better decisions.
