Petrosys Pty Ltd and Controlled Entities

Petrosys is the industry leader in mapping, surface modeling and data management software solutions integrated with a range of exploration, production and GIS data sources. The Petrosys product suite produces high quality maps and manages, edits, and analyses the underlying data, including the specialised seismic, well and other information used in the quest for oil and gas. Geoscience professionals, data managers and engineers at more than 250 sites worldwide use the Petrosys suite as a natural tool for basin and field interpretation, as a central solution in enterprise data management and to help make better decisions.

Corporate structure

Petrosys Pty. Ltd., the parent company in the group, is a privately owned company based in Adelaide, South Australia, where it was originally founded in 1984, and is registered in Australia with A.C.N. 008 050 342.

Petrosys USA Inc., Petrosys Canada Ltd., and Petrosys Europe Ltd., are wholly owned subsidiaries of Petrosys Pty. Ltd.:

  • Petrosys USA Inc. is registered in Houston, Texas, USA.
  • Petrosys Canada Inc. is registered in New Brunswick, Canada, and operates in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
  • Petrosys Europe Inc. is registered in Glasgow, Scotland, UK with registration number 152240.

Background and Experience of Directors

All companies in the Petrosys group share a common Board of Directors. The Board comprises four (4) members:

Dr. Volker Hirsinger B.Sc (Hons), PhD (Structural Geology)
Managing Director and Chairman

Dr. Hirsinger is a founder of Petrosys Pty Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and PhD in Structural Geology. Dr. Hirsinger held positions at Western Mining, Woodside Petroleum and Santos Ltd, before participating in the founding of Petrosys Pty Ltd in 1984.

He has taken a central role in both the development of Petrosys software products and the senior management of the company. He was appointed Managing Director in 1999.

Dr. Hirsinger is currently Managing Director and Chairman of the Petrosys group.

Mr. Michael Mansfield Brumby B.Sc (Hons)
Executive Director

Mr. Brumby holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geophysics. Mr. Brumby was originally employed at Western Mining Petroleum as a seismic interpreter. In 1987 he relocated to Perth to work in the Timor Sea group and was involved in the drilling of exploration wells in that region. 5 years later, Mr. Brumby joined Petrosys to support, sell and market software in the Australian region. Mr. Brumby has been actively involved at all levels of the company since that time.

Mr. Brumby is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is an executive director of Petrosys, and also holds positions as:

  • Regional Manager (Asia / Middle East); and
  • Global Support / Services Manager.

Mr. Michael Anthony Trenerry LL.B
Non-executive Director

Mr. Trenerry holds a Bachelor of Laws and is a qualified legal practitioner. Mr. Trenerry was a partner in the Adelaide law firm Bonnin & Partners for 20 years before retiring from legal practice in 1988. Mr Trenerry specialises in commercial law - including company formation, reconstruction and general strategic advice to small-medium enterprises.

Mr. Trenerry is founder and current principal of business advisory firm Blueprint Australia - providing advice to a range of commercial clients regarding corporate planning, acquisitions, divestments, mergers and reconstructions. Mr. Trenerry is a non-executive director of Petrosys.

Mr. Craig Lehmann Farrow B.Ec, DipFS, CPMgr, SA Fin, FAIM, FAICD, FCA
Non-executive Director

Mr. Farrow is a Chartered Accountant and Managing Partner of the accounting firm Brentnalls SA. Mr. Farrow qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994. His particular areas of expertise are providing business advisory services to small to medium enterprises, including chairing and acting as an adviser to various private and public company boards, focussing on strategy, governance and financial performance. Mr. Farrow was involved with the foundation in 1999 of M2 Telecommunications Group Ltd and is now Chairman of that company, which listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2004.

Mr Farrow is also Chairman of Tonkin Consulting, an engineering practice, a national board director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and director of numerous private entities across the agribusiness, health and consulting sectors. In 1999 he was awarded the Institute of Chartered Accountant’s National President’s Award for Service to the Institute and the profession and is a Fellow of the Governor’s Leadership Foundation.

Mr. Farrow is a non-executive director of Petrosys.
