Petrosys® v17.4: instant mapping, 3D point display, simplified depth conversion with 64-bit.

Petrosys, the industry leader in mapping, surface modeling and data management software solutions, is pleased to announce the latest release of its Petrosys® software suite. Version 17.4 sees important refinements to Mapping, Depth Conversion and 3D Visualization; the introduction of the first fully 64 bit edition of Petrosys®; as well as a range of smaller, but significant, changes requested by users to make workflows even more intuitive.

“We hear many senior decision makers in the industry lamenting about the poor geological quality of maps and development scenarios they are presented”, said Managing Director, Volker Hirsinger. “We care about our customers’ exploration decisions, so we remain focused on providing simpler ways that enable all users to develop geologically valid maps that concisely convey opportunities no matter what the source of data is.”

“That often simply boils down to making it easier for time poor individuals of varying experiences and skills to achieve the desired result,” Mr Hirsinger said.

Mapping is now faster, simpler and more dynamic. Using the new dynamic map sheet, place data on a map by dragging the required files onto the map canvas. Dynamic map sheets automatically extend to show all the data provided, creating a powerful quality control tool for data with unknown spatial extents. This continues to dramatically set Petrosys® apart from all other sub-surface mapping applications by dynamically extending maps to all of the available data, regardless of the source.

Color gradients now take advantage of higher resolutions than ever before. This makes it significantly easier to clearly recognize key attributes and structures. It’s these subtle, yet important, differences that allow maps to clearly communicate outcomes to key decision makers.

Petrosys continues to enhance and broaden depth conversion capabilities, with the introduction of SEGY file input and ability to use third party checkshot data. Advanced format detection means lesser known or new formats can be detected and refined as necessary.

The 3D Viewer now supports the display of point data form a range of sources, enabling the visualization of microseismic data, large scale regional data sets – such as magnetic and gravitational surveys – and the wide variety of well bore oriented analysis and chemistry data used in unconventional exploration. The introduction of 64 bit technology in Petrosys® 17.4, along with numerous refinements to the 3D Viewer application, mean that that the performance of most 3D displays has been considerably refined.

Connectivity again leaps ahead, increasing the versatility and interoperability of Petrosys® with other leading GIS and E&P applications. Petrosys® 17.4 sees added support for Esri file geodatabases on Linux and Paradigm 2011.3 on Windows. In addition, the Esri plugin has been upgraded to work with Esri desktop 10.2 applications. Petrosys continues to be the most dynamic integrator of data available.
