Extension of visualization options in Petrosys 3D module.

In the 3dviewer, users can now save a series of camera viewing positions as a collection of 'viewpoints'. These make it easy for the user to create a series of descriptive viewing positions and return to those display perspectives quickly - much like a bookmark.

The ability to render a selection of saved viewpoints into a movie (.mpeg), which can be shared, provides an effective way to present or provide information to other parties.

It is now also possible to animate attribute grids draped over surfaces; this makes the presentation and review of time-series data more effective, for example when reviewing the change in reservoir pressure in a structure over time.

Viewpoints provide bookmarks which facilitate effective presentation

A ‘viewpoint’ is like a bookmark in 3D space. As you navigate around your model, use the Viewpoints/Add-Viewpoint option to note viewing angles that you find particularly useful in explaining a particular feature of your prospect and Viewpoints/Show-Viewpoints, to manage your collection. Once you have a good collection of viewpoints, document them by modifying their description in Show-viewpoints. You can then use Viewpoints/Show-viewpoints to reliably skip to these vantage points in your demonstration, not only from the current model but also with any other data that you might want to display. You can use the Show-viewpoints/Animation tool to create a smooth flight path through a selection of viewpoints.

Make a movie

If your presentation is to a larger audience or for publication, you can create an .mpeg movie by selecting the Save Movie flag in Viewpoints/Show-Viewpoints/Animation option. This lets you capture the smooth animation flight path to an .mpeg file with a screen resolution of your choice. From here on, you should probably be consulting with your neighbourhood home movie enthusiast as to the best movie editing software to use for taking your production to the next stage!
